Anne and I hiked out to a ledge over the ocean near the Cabot Trail, Nova Scotia. Fog was everywhere and we couldn't see down into the valleys. But suddenly, there it was: a surreal shimmer of light on the water below us despite the thick banks of clouds that totally obscured the sun. The sun is always there, even when we can't see it directly, or in the way we have come to expect. Love will always find us, though not always in the ways we anticipate. It is hope's answer to our darkest moments.
